Newark - VNN's investigative reporters have done their homework and they’ve discovered that the individual in question is none other then Gerardo “Poppo” Santiago, 48, of Newark, NJ.

Santiago’s claim to fame, comes from his third place status in the 2nd Annual Adam Clayton Powell Jr Break-Dance Fest in 1981. He went by the moniker of “Poppin Poppo“. Santiago wasn’t satisfied with the judge’s results and sued, claiming that his civil rights were violated because his substandard cardboard dance mat was manufactured by a company owned by a White man. That case, presided over by the noted celebrity, Judge Judy, was settled for an undisclosed sum, rumored to be in the high 100s of dollars.

Santiago has had numerous run-ins with the authorities compiling a rap sheet of over 218 arrests for filing false insurance claims. He has never been convicted because of his sincere and adamant assertions that he was a United States Army General responsible for winning the Vietnam war.

I agree. Anyone who has been following The_Skunk's antics on various web forums over the years should be aware of the dubious nature of this guy, and anything on his website. He mixes in too much bullshit in with the truth to be trusted; he's either very shoddy in his methods or he's deliberately undermining the causes he claims to support.

The photos in the newspaper were different thant he photos on my web site. The newspaper had a photographer at my house to take pictures of this guy BEFORE I EVER KNEW the guy was downstairs.

So clearly, the local Jersey Journal manufactured this "news story" either on its own, or in cooperation with someone else. I am sad to admit I was completely set up.

Hal says the North Bergen city ordinances prohibit protests without a permit and that Vazquez didn't obtain one. Naturally Hal took things into his own hands rather than calling the police and city attorney himself first to complain. The fact the police didn't arrest and charge Hal on the spot means nothing. The local DA can do this at any time on 'probable cause' issuing from Vazquez' own complaint.

Especially after the prosecutor plays some of Hal's choicest broadcast rants from past shows. Which clips he/she will receive even without asking for them from the public spirited SPLC and/or ADL.

The main question in my mind right now is, "Did Mrs. Turner witness the incident and can she testify that Vazquez got physical first?" Otherwise this is very easily a 'triable issue of fact' for a North Bergen jury to determine.

Hal's account today deepens his legal jeopardy in my opinion.

"He harassed people who drove into and out of the [color="red"]condominium where I live, yelling at cars, saying "You live with a racist, Hal Turner."

"Vasquez was holding a sign that read "Hal Turner SHOOT ME." My son saw the sign and thought this man was at our house to shoot ME! My son was terrified and ran upstrairs to tell me there was some strange man with a sign in front of our house that had my name on it and something about "shooting."

"When my wife came upstairs, she told me there was "some nut outside with a sign that says something about Shooting."

A prosecutor can therefore probably argue that Hal was in absolutely no physical danger. Beyond this, Vazquez may have a nasty surprise for Hal. Such as 'backup' taking pics from further away. Vazquez clearly came with the intention of provoking an incident. It would be unusual for someone with his background to come alone, unprepared and without the other paraphernalia employed by non-whites in staging political incidents. Vazquez was 'prepared' otherwise.

Plenty of ink available to Hal's enemies:

Hal's best chance now is if a) Vazquez pushed first, b) Mrs Turner videotaped the entire encounter and c) Turner's lawyer gets a change of venue. Possibly to Marc's county. 'Foresight' has not played a noticeable role so far on Hal's part so...

Personally I think old grease traps like Vazquez should poured back into Puerto Rico, and the island given instant independence. And I think no charges should be filed even if Vazquez had been pushed into the street and run over by a loaded garbage truck. This is not the issue. The issue is Hal's very poor tactical judgment during political engagement.
