In Asheboro, North Carolina, Ever Lopez graduated from high school, but on graduation day, over his gown he wore a Mexican flag. On video, it's really draped over, and he when it was his turn to get his diploma, he was spoken to, and school officials wouldn't give him the diploma.

They said wearing the flag violates the dress code on graduation. His wearing the flag draped over himself was a distraction to the ceremony. They met with him afterwards, and said if he apologizes, he'll get his diploma.

Lopez said no apology. "I just gotta represent that I did it for my family," Lopez said, "they came over here to give me a better future."

His mother, Margarita Lopez, speaking with help because English isn't her first language, said "For me that isn't fair. That's something for racists."

Ah, here it goes: racism.

Also that he came over here for a better future. The flag he draped over himself represents a country that offered no future for him, but, by God, it's the one he loves.

School officials are falling over themselves saying it wasn't about Mexico, just 'the ceremony.'

I'm on their side, but there'a already a growing protest to give the kid his diploma. The video really shows it like a taco blanket over his body, and you say a WTF? seeing him with the other kids. He doesn't look too bright, either.

I graduated in 1970, and we were really told what to wear at graduation, wear the cap and gown correctly, etc. I remember seeing some video a couple of years ago where some doofus kid got his diploma, then did a back flip on stage. I would have yanked the diploma out of his hand right there.

There simply is no decorum or dignity anymore.

As for Lopez, we can say what do you expect from a beaner?, and it's another example that they don't have to be nice anymore. They got the gringo on the run and they know it.

As for not showing respect to America, which I'm sure the 'conservative' talk show types will say if they comment on this, is there even an America anymore? We see there might be an 'America' in places like Asheboro and the red states, but not in the urban areas.
