So I'm reading this article about two kids acquitted of hate after painting up a wall at their school. They'd made swastikas, written "kill the jews", and even written a couple of jewish students' names near that.
I'm thinking "wow", surprised at the acquittal.
Then I read the second to last sentence in the article:
Attorney John Downey insisted his teenage client -- one of whose parents is Jewish -- didn't act out of bigotry.
