“Hey Hey, Ho Ho, these racist streets have got to go!”
That message, chanted by dozens of protesters Wednesday outside Hollywood City Hall, urged city commissioners to end a long-running controversy over three streets that honor Confederate war leaders.
On Wednesday night, commissioners approved a plan to rename streets named for Confederate commanders Robert E. Lee, John Bell Hood and Nathan Bedford Forrest, who was also the first grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan. One key detail — what the new names will be — will be taken up next week.
“Today we’re being asked to erase from our city’s maps symbols of men whose deeds symbolized hatred and bigotry for an entire race of people, who believed they should be kept in chains,” Mayor Josh Levy said before the vote. “We don’t believe that in 2017. We don’t endorse hate; we don’t endorse symbols of hate.”

Eye giss dey beez namen dem Traythug Moron Street, jester jackmeupsummoney street, hairybutt washtubwoman street....
I'm 67+ years old and saw lots of "demonstrations" about the Viet Nam war, etc., as I was growing up in Georgia. Moron Lucifer Koon marched in Atlanta: however, the closest I got to that one was in my "bedroom community" of Apelanta, about 20 miles from downtown.
I am one pissed off man, born, raised and residing in the Deep South of 'murica.
