WASHINGTON -- UN Secretary General Kofi Annan on Monday implicitly weighed into a raging political debate in the United States over illegal immigration, insisting that migrants and their aspirations are "the motors of human progress."
In an article published in The Wall Street Journal, Annan made no direct reference to an immigration reform plan approved by the US Senate last month.
But he showcased what he saw as general benefits of worker migration, arguing that incoming migrants do essential jobs, which a country's established residents are reluctant to undertake.
Annan said that in developed countries with slow-growing populations, "younger workers arriving from abroad help to shore up underfunded pension systems."
"Yes, migration can have its downside," the UN secretary general wrote, "though ironically some of the worst effects arise from efforts to control it: It is irregular or undocumented migrants who are most vulnerable to smugglers, traffickers and other forms of exploitation."
His remarks were published as US National Guard units began deployment along the US-Mexican border in an effort the stem the influx of illegal immigrants into the United States, a move that is viewed with concern in Mexico.
The US Senate bill proposes eventual legalization for an estimated 11.5 million illegal immigrants currently in the United States and creates a guest worker program.
But is faces staunch opposition from the House of Representatives, which last December passed legislation declaring illegal entry into the United States a felony.

this is a biggie . the kosher klub is trying to sell this line all over white nations.

Truth of the matter is , the new 'workers' don't earn enough to pay for the pensions and , in fact , are greater social drains than contributors . The real truth , as opposed to the yiddish anti-truth, is that immigrants will help to bankrupt pension funds earlier .

'Smugglers, traffickers, exploitation' - hey, nigger, I don't give a shit about any illegal invader stupid enough to leave his country in order to subject himself to this treatment. Your brillo-headed logic is actually in agreement with us: no mass immigration = no mass exploitation of immigrants.
Rational solution to the pension problem = more white kids. If the country is over-crowded, to the extent that more kids won't solve the problem, more adult immigrants sure as shit aren't going to solve anything, either.
