Protesters Gather At 30th Street Station As They Celebrate The Last Night Of Chanukah

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Tuesday marks the last night of Chanukah, and for many local people of the Jewish faith they used the night to shine light on a movement very close to their hearts.

Dozens gathered underneath the giant Menorah at 30th Street Station to celebrate Chanukah and take part in a peaceful demonstration.

“We’re here to show that black lives matter, brown lives matter. All lives matter.”

The hour long demonstration consisted of praying, singing and the lighting of candles to show their solidarity with other civil rights protests around the country.

“As Jews we know what racism can do. When we say never again we need it to mean never again to anyone.”

“For me the whole purpose of our religion and our faith is to help try and heal the world.”

“We’re showing the Philadelphia community that the Jewish community stands with all people.”

Protesters also read the names of people who they say died at the hands of the police.

How do you spell relief?

Here's how: This message is hidden because N.M. Valdez is on your shit list.
