D.A. wants KHS assault suspect jailed on weekends if convicted

KINGSTON - The alleged assailant in the fight that prompted white supremacist Hal Turner to hold a rally in Kingston last fall should spend weekends in jail for six months and be placed on probation for five years if convicted, the Ulster County district attorney said on Friday.

The accused, 18-year-old Joseph L. Williams, has been indicted for felony assault for allegedly attacking fellow Kingston High School student Robbie Hedrick on Oct. 7, 2005, outside the school. Hedrick suffered eye damage and multiple fractures to facial bones in the fight.

Williams was indicted for misdemeanor assault for allegedly assaulting KHS student Thomas Doyle during the same fight.

Williams has pleaded not guilty to both counts and is due back in Ulster County Court on Tuesday.

District Attorney Donald A. Williams (no relation to the defendant) said his office has made its recommendation to the court that Joseph Williams spend weekends in jail and be placed on probation. The maximum sentence for the defendant would be seven years in state prison if he's convicted of felony assault.

IMO..if it wasn't for the Kingston rally...this Negro would've gotten a slap on the wrist and the whole thing would've been swept onder the rug and been forgotten about long ago!

Mr. Kirby -- with all due respect sir, you seem to be paying more attention to the "Nazi uniforms and symbols" than what this case was REALLY about! Who cares what the demonstrators at the rally were wearing?!!! It was a "Rally Against Violence"!

According to both victims AND Robbie's mother...Williams said, "I hate you White niggers," before almost killing Robbie! Any particular reason for you not mentioning that in your article?!!!

If this would've been a bunch of White kids assaulting a colored boy and his buddy, and if the White kids would've said..."I hate you black niggers" while assaulting the colored boys, does ANYONE reading this doubt that it would've been a "hate crime"?!!!

The grand jury in this case was SPINELESS!

Thomas Jefferson said: "Nothing is more certainly written in the book of fate than that these people are to be free. [But] the two races...cannot live in the same government. Nature, habit, opinion has drawn indelible lines of distinction between them."

That is a FACT!

And BTW...what "prompted" Hal Turner to hold the "Rally Against Violence" was because there were FOUR attacks on Whites by non-Whites in less than two months (that we knew about) -- another FACT you failed to mention!

One last thing Mr. Kirby. You refer to Joseph L. Williams as the "alleged assailant" in the first sentence of the article. I'm assuming because he has not been convicted yet? Don't you think it would be fair of you to refer to Hal Turner as an "alleged White supremacist"? After all...he hasn't been convicted of being a White supremacist yet...has he?
