Thirsty For 'The Real Thing' - Kosher Coke Is Back
Made With Sugar, Not High Fructose Corn Syrup
(CBS4) MIAMI Move over Manischewitz. Coca-Cola is back with its Kosher coke in time for Passover.
Each year, Coco-Cola makes its popular soda with sugar, instead of high-fructose corn syrup.
During Passover, Jews cannot consume "chametz," defined as leavened grain products like wheat, oats, barley, rye and spelt, so the company makes a special Kosher-for-Passover Coke that Jews and non-Jews alike snap up as soon as it hits store shelves.
Many people, regardless of religion, enjoy the kosher Coke because it’s made with pure sugar and has a slightly different flavor. Coca-Cola used sugar as a sweetener before it switched to high-fructose corn syrup in the 1980s.

Cans are also embossed to show they are kosher for Passover.
Passover, the eight-day holiday that commemorates the exodus of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt, begins at sundown April 2 with the first seder.
