A Brooklyn mom who beat her 11-year-old daughter to death with a mop handle was sentenced Tuesday to 16 years behind bars.
Florencia Vazquez, 38, was stonefaced as Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Neil Firetog delivered her sentence.
Vazquez pleaded guily Aug. 2 to savagely beating Alejandra with the handle in October 2008, and leaving her to die on her bed.
"To her, we were all animals," Vazquez's 15-year-old daughter, Imelda, wrote in a letter read by a court interpreter. "My mother deserves to get a lot of time in jail for all the harm she has done."
Alejandra's lifeless body was found two full days after the attack, when a man who rented a room in the family's East New York apartment spotted the corpse.
Cops said Vazquez abused Alejandra and Imelda, because she despised their father, who was living in Mexico.
"She cries often. She's sorry for what she did," the monster mom's lawyer, Andrew Friedman, said outside the courtroom. "She can't explain why she did it, only that she did it."
