Lafayette police arrest 4 in playground shooting

LAFAYETTE, La. Lafayette police say they've arrested four people in connection with a shooting at a playground that left a 47-year-old man dead.

19-year-old Jarvis Sheldon and 20-year-old Norris Landor were arrested this morning on first-degree murder charges. Just before midnight, police arrested 21-year-old Jamaesha Provost on a first-degree murder charge; and 22-year-old Georgia Norbert for accessory after-the-fact to first degree murder.

Lonnie Angelle was found dead early yesterday morning at St. Anthony Playground. He had been shot in the back of the head.

Lafayette police say a unknown black male was seen fleeing the scene on Edison Street.

Neighbors say years ago, drugs and crimes in the area were much worse but it still is not uncommon to hear gunshots.

Lafayette Police are also searching for 21-year-old Jamaesha Evette Provost, aka Black, of New Iberia. She's believed to be one of the last people with Angelle. Provost is not a suspect. She is only wanted for questioning.
