Suspect Behind Bars for Teen Murder in Sparks

"For the last week, Detectives with Sparks Police, Reno Police, Washoe, and School Police, have worked together day and night to bring this case to a successful closure."

It's the break in the case police have been waiting for.

28 year old [color="Red"]Tamir Hamilton has been arrested for the murder of [color="red"]16 year old Holly Quick.

"Evidence located at the crime scene and in Hamilton's residence has linked him as the person responsible for this tragic and brutal homicide."

The sixteen year old was found dead inside the apartment she shared with her mother the morning of September 15th.

Police say they got numerous tips since the murder including the one that led them to Hamilton.

"We took him into custody yesterday afternoon on another charge waiting for something's to come back, evidence in Washoe County Jail, in the process of booking him for homicide and sex assault."

Police say the suspect lived in Spanish Springs, and was an unemployed truck driver.

Police also say the victim's family knew Hamilton but would not release any other details about his connection.

"Our detectives still have a lot of work to do."

Including their focus on finding evidence that is still missing.

"We are currently looking for a household knife, were also looking for a phone which is a Motorola v550 which is a phone belonging to the victim."

Police say the arrest is a way to help bring closure for Quick's family and everyone involved.
