Sep 30, 2021
Washington- Montgomery County County executive Mark Elrich has announced that Maryland will provide $ 700,000 to support the security needs of faith-based institutions.
The new grant will be used by nonprofits and institutions that have “experienced or are at high risk of experiencing hate crimes.”
The county has a large Jewish community, and according to the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) in Greater Washington, there are more than 50 Jewish institutions in the county. “These grants can be used to increase the cost of security guards or other security planning measures for nonprofit organizations in Montgomery County,” the county announced.
