Woman Sexually Assaulted In Hempstead Parking Lot

(CBS) HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. Police want you to help them identify the man who raped a woman in her
car and threatened the woman's 2-year-old daughter strapped into the car seat.
According to Nassau County Police Det. Lt. Richard Zito, "The subject placed the silver handgun to
the head of the victim's daughter and ordered her back into the car."
The victim was shopping at a Hempstead supermarket and had parked in a poorly light back lot
where police said her screams for help went unheard.
One grandmother said she would change her shopping routine.
"When I put my baby in the car seat, I'm going to lock my door, I'm going to walk around the car,
unlock it that way," said shopper Terenna Williams.
The suspect may have struck before. Police said a man fitting the description of the suspect, armed
with a similar gun approached two women on Fulton Street and ordered them into their car.
But the fast thinking victims fooled the suspect saying the car wouldn't start. He fled but not
before robbing them.
With holiday shopping in full swing, Hempstead Village police are making their presence known
with additional foot patrols.
Hempstead Village Police Lt. Michael McGowan said, "Any predator who would be looking to commit
a crime would see the visible uniforms and be discouraged."
While Nassau and Hempstead police continue to hunt for the attacker, they say shoppers
everywhere should use common sense and offered the following tips.
Shopping Safety Tips
--Shop with a friend -- there's safety in numbers
--Park in a well-lighted area
Do not return to your car if you see people loitering nearby
Police are asking anyone with information to call Nassau County CrimeStoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.

Here's a better shopping safety tip:
Carry and learn to use effectively a handgun.

I got married in Hempstead back in 1985. (we lived in Valley Stream at the time) Hempstead was a SHITHOLE back then...I can't even begin to imagine what it's like now.

I'm with Stan, our women need to be taught how to use and clean firearms. They need to practise with them as well to gain expertise and confidence. Imagine that for a christmas or birthday present, a tool that could save the life of the one you love.

I dream of the day if I caught one of these savages in the the act of going back to their primative instincs.
