I didn't think that niggers watched or attended NASCAR events. In fact, they usually whine about it being a White man's sport.
Disclaimer: I’m not a NASCAR fan.
Not that there is anything wrong with the sport. Like it? Have at it. My problem is with watching cars go round and round in big giant circles four or five hundred times, hoping one of them will crash to add flavor to the experience. It’s sort of like watching paint dry, hoping that a bug will get stuck to it to add to the entertainment value of the event. Nap time.
Of course, that’s just my take on it. There are a lot of people out there who really, really like the sport as the completely packed motor speedways will attest. I just hope they don’t display the Conferderate flag while they’re enjoying the race. The NAACP may come and get them if they do:
If the civil rights organization does not get the racing league’s cooperation and support, officials there said they are prepared to begin contacting NASCAR’s sponsors, and to stage protests during the races.
“We intend to notify NASCAR about the troubling racial discord we have here in Homestead, and we would like their support,” said Rosemary Fuller, a longtime member of the Miami-Dade NAACP who chaired an advisory board that the city council disbanded after board members challenged the Confederate Flag.
“Right now, we are still in the planning stages,’’ Fuller said, “but if NASCAR decides to come here under these conditions, we will meet them at the racetrack.”
Note this: The NAACP isn’t talking about the NASCAR organization. NASCAR already forbids the display of the controversial symbol by the organization. The NAACP is talking about the fans. They don’t want the fans to display the flag.
I have a small problem with that.
While I can understand the NAACP objecting to organizations or corporations displaying the flag, I find their need to dictate to individual citizens about what they can and cannot display a bit…..alarming. Also, note that last statement. They’ll “meet them at the racetrack”. Correct me if I’m wrong, but that sounds a great deal like someone picking a fight with someone else who is simply minding their own business.
I also understand the perceived symbolism of the flag, and I can understand why it ruffles sensibilities. I’m just not sure why the NAACP feels it has the right to “meet them at the racetrack” over the issue. Sounds a lot like an eighth grader challenging someone to meet him after school. If those Confederate flag waving folks are in one place and minding their own business then they should be allowed to display the damn thing any way they want, as long as it doesn’t intrude on the rights of others.
Freedom from being offended is not a right, by the way.
This boils down to one simple thing: freedom of expression and those who would demand you think and act their way. If the NAACP is allowed to bully NASCAR like this then we all lose.
By the way, no, I don’t fly a Confederate flag. Why? Because I choose not to. Choice is a good thing to have, isn’t it?
Someone should tell that to the NAACP.
