A Fort Worth man accused of robbing a Burger King didn't end up having it his way, landing in police custody after a chase through downtown Fort Worth on Wednesday.

FWPD
John L. Fain John L. Fain, 43, is accused of robbing the restaurant in the 1300 block of Eastchase Parkway about 9 a.m. Wednesday, Fort Worth police Lt. Dean Sullivan said. A witness reported seeing him get into a black Honda and copied down the license plate number.

Police spotted the vehicle and followed it through downtown Fort Worth and then north on Airport Freeway. The suspect then collided with a Fort Worth city truck and fell out of the vehicle, Lt. Sullivan said.

Mr. Fain, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital, where he was treated and released. He was charged with robbery and evading arrest and was being held at the Mansfield Jail on $20,000 bail.

Fort Worth police said Mr. Fain is a suspect in a robbery at the same Burger King on Feb. 19.

Hurst police also want to talk to Mr. Fain about a pair of fast-food robberies in mid-February. Hurst police Detective Chad Woodside said that a man matching Mr. Fain's description and driving a black Honda robbed a Burger King and Chicken Express. In both cases, he showed employees a pistol but did not point it at them.

"It makes you wonder if it's an inside job," Detective Woodside said. He could not confirm whether Mr. Fain had ever worked at a Burger King.

North Richland Hills police said Mr. Fain had listed his occupation on a previous incident report as a McDonald's restaurant manager in Arlington. However, management at several McDonald's franchises in the area could not confirm that.

Mr. Fain has had at least two recent brushes with the law, Tarrant County court records indicate. He paid a $191 fine on a bad check charge last year, and he has a court hearing scheduled in May on a marijuana possession charge in North Richland Hills.
