Netanya College awards honorary degree to Sarkozy
Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy will be awarded an honorary degree by the Netanya Academic College for "his contribution to the State of Israel and the Jewish people."
The college's board decided to award the prestigious degree to the former president for "determinately and courageously battling racism and anti-Semitism… in Europe and in the world."
The college stressed that "Since his first days in politics and until today Sarkozy is considered a true friend to Israel. He has reached out to Israel and its residents and urged his European counterparts to embrace the same policy."
The college president, Professor Zvi Arad, added, "We are excited to host in the Netanya Academic College such a high-ranking figure that has contributed to the promotion of the ties between Israel and France and to the extinction of anti-Semitism in France and in all of Europe."
