Netanyahu prefaced his remarks by thanking US President Barack Obama and the US Congress “for all they have done for Israel’s security.”

The prospect of a nuclear-armed Iran and the growing delegitimization campaign remain the major challenges facing Israel on the international stage, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told The Jerusalem Post’s Annual Conference in New York in a special videotaped message on Sunday.

Although Netanyahu prefaced his remarks by thanking US President Barack Obama and the US Congress “for all they have done for Israel’s security,” the premier warned that “the Lausanne framework paves Iran’s way to produce the enriched uranium for an entire arsenal of nuclear weapons.”

“That’s the inevitable outcome if Iran keeps the deal,” the prime minister said. ”If they decide to break the deal, they can get to the bomb much sooner. The deal also gives Iran tens of billions of dollars immediately, and hundreds of billions of dollars in the coming years.”

Netanyahu lambasted the global movement to punish Israel economically for its policies in the West Bank, particularly in light of recent controversies that saw an attempt to remove Israel from FIFA as well as remarks by the CEO of a major French cellular provider expressing his desire to cease business ties with the Jewish state.

“We are in the midst of an orchestrated global campaign to delegitimize Israel,” the premier said. ”And here’s what’s so absurd about it: The Palestinians walk away from peace negotiations. They walked away from [Ehud] Barak. They walked away from [Ariel] Sharon. They walked away from [Ehud] Olmert. And they now walk away from me.”

“They consistently shun direct peace talks and then call for sanctions on Israel, because there are no peace talks,” he said. “Unfortunately, all too many in the international community go along with this charade. Delegitimization must be fought. It’s not about this or that Israeli policy. It’s about our right to exist here as a free people, our right to defend ourselves, our right to determine our own future.”
