Ultra-Orthodox Jewish Monsey man arrested after luring boy to empty synagogue with candy for sex (video)

An ultra-Orthodox Jewish man of Monsey, was arrested on charges of attempted sexual assault after allegedly trying to assault a young boy in an empty synagogue, police in New York said.

Rockland County Police said that they arrested 25-year-old Abraham Widenbaum, on a charge of attempted sexual assault after he lured the 6-year-old boy by promising him sweets.

Widenbaum approached the boy on Wednesday afternoon, and promised candy. He went with him to a nearby synagogue. Widenbaum took the boy to an empty room, and then told him to go find his friend and bring him back to the synagogue.

The boy left the synagogue and met his father, who had been looking for. When the boy told his father what happened,

the father called the police.

The suspect was no longer in the temple by the time the authorities arrived. Widenbaum was booked into jail and is being held on $75,000 bail.
