NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE -- The man police call the North-Dade Stalker, accused of committing more than a dozen sexual assaults on women in Miami-Dade and Broward counties, is now believed to have had close contact with children in the community.

Police say the 29-year-old man, identified as Troy Dumas, is a registered sex offender who had close contact with young children at the Northwest Boys & Girls Club.

According to detectives, Dumas volunteered as a coach for his 9-year-old son's football team and spent most weeknights at the Boys & Girls Club, which happened to be near to the neighborhood he terrorized.

According to the Boys & Girls Club, Dumas actually passed a criminal background check despite being a registered sex offender and having numerous sexual and other offenses on his record. However, some parents were suspicious of Dumas from the beginning.

Dumas is charged with two counts of attempted sexual battery, armed burglary and battery. He is currently being held without bond.

Investigators believe Dumas may also be responsible for more than a dozen other cases of intruder sexual assaults or break-ins. DNA has linked him to two armed attempted sexual batteries.

Authorities have been searching for this alleged stalker for months, urging residents to lock windows and doors. [color="Red"]Dumas targeted women ages seven to 54.
