Congresswoman Val Demings hosted a forum for kids and asked the kids, "Do you feel safe in school? If not, what kind of safety measures do you think that would help the situation?" She hosted this event in the Holden Height Community Center here in the beautiful City of Orlando. It was a great opportunity to get to hear what some of the kids were saying. One kid said, no they do not feel safe. Another kid said that just the other day in school someone dropped a book and kids just fell to the floor. Others like me were just standing in shock. This kid went on to elaborate about guns in our school by saying no we don't need guns in our schools. The problem is that's another way of guns getting into the schools. The kids suggested that there need to be metal detectors at the doors so that no one can get in other than those that are supposed to be there. It's my opinion that most of the people in the room agreed with this kid. I don't know about you, but I think this kid could be on to something. Congresswoman Val Demings stated that as a village we can make a difference and she's there to listen to what they had to say about our country's gun laws situation. Then she will take what the people want back to Congress. There were kids at this forum from about four different schools. They were from Jones High School, Edgewater High school, Evans High School and Oakridge High School.
