Get over it, disgraced DJ says to critics

Troi Torain, aka Star, wants people to stop huffin' and puffin'
over racial and ethnic rant that got him canned from radio
gig — 'cause he’s looking to take his spiel to TV.

He was arrested and booted off the radio for threatening a rival's 4-year-old daughter, but Star wants to make a comeback - on TV.

And for anyone offended by the vile, racist rant that got the deejay three days community service and a one-way ticket to the unemployment line, Star has this message: "Get over it."

"I'm trying to go mainstream. I don't have to be rough, rugged and raw," Star, whose real name is Troi Torain, told the Daily News yesterday. "I'm trying to get on TV. I'm trying to do what Don Imus does."

Still, Star is unrepentant for telling Power 105.1 listeners how he wanted to defile the daughter of rival Hot 97 personality Rashawn Casey (DJ Envy).

He also offered $500 to anyone who could help him find the child, and slurred Casey's part-Asian wife, prompting Power 105.1 parent Clear Channel to pull the plug on his "Star & Buc Wild Morning Show" in May.

Star's tirade drew the ire of authorities who hit him with a child endangerment rap. The charges were dropped last month on the condition he perform three days of community service and stay out of trouble for six months.

But the deposed deejay said he's not about to take back a word.

"So what you're offended. Get over it. We're all offended by something. I'm offended every day by people who wave the flag of Jesus," he said, referring to his atheism. "I'm not going to grovel to soothe the current climate of pressure groups."

He added, "I didn't just one day decide to go after someone's Asian kid. I've made jokes about Italians, blacks, Jews.

"That's what I do. I sit and tell racial jokes. If we're at a point where we can't make ethnic jokes, then game over. If we can't joke about ourselves and each other, then it's a new day, and my day is gone."

Star, 42, compares himself to the comedian Lenny Bruce, who battled obscenity charges in the 1960s. And he sees no hypocrisy in the defamation lawsuit he recently filed against Queens Councilman John Liu, who has called Star a pedophile.

"I'm not a pedophile. So he's going to have to slow it down," Star said. "He's too much of a cowboy right now. He's trying to interfere with my business."

Liu said he "can't wait" to face Star in court, adding, "It's just funny how Torain claims freedom of speech, and yet when other people exercise their freedom of speech criticizing him, the skin gets very thin."

Star, who lives on the upper East Side, is barred from taking other radio jobs until his six-month noncompete clause with Clear Channel runs out.

In the meantime, he plans to self-publish his 300-page manifesto, "Objective Hate."

"I'm looking to move forward," he said. "I would like people to know there's more to Star than being on a rap radio station."
