Laura Dickinson was studying to be a dietitian and nutritionist who talked of joining the Peace Corps to help children in Africa dealing with AIDS. She was a member of the Eastern Michigan rowing team.
Orange Amir Taylor III, 20, of Southfield, was arrested Friday, 10 weeks after the body of Laura Dickinson was found Dec. 15, 2006 in her room in Hill Hall. She had been dead two or three days, police said.
Taylor, who did not live on campus, was arraigned Saturday on charges of open murder, two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of first-degree home invasion and larceny. He was being held at the Washtenaw County Jail with a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 6.
