A NEW $100,000 banknote will be issued in Zimbabwe today. With a value of about 67p, it is worth only the price of a loaf of bread.

Its introduction comes as the economy buckles under the highest rate of inflation in the world, currently at 1,042 per cent. The note makes its debut barely four months after the Reserve Bank introduced the $50,000 note, the highest denomination at the time. In only two weeks the Zimbabwe dollar has lost half of its value.[/indent]

[indent]Despite the hyperinflation, mass unemployment and crippling shortages of fuel and foreign currency, Zimbabwe is a country of millionaires. Shoppers have to carry huge wads of cash to buy the basic foodstuffs available in most shops.

“Last week I filled a single trolley with $30 million of groceries, and I had to count out 600 notes of $20,000 at the checkout counter,” John Robertson, an economist, said.

Despite the economic gloom, he said that at least the new note “means when we go shopping, we don’t have to take a suitcase of money: we can carry it in a shoulder bag”.[/indent]
They have money so worthless that thieves don't want to steal it because it isn't valuable enough to justify carrying the weight.

[indent]As the Government announced the introduction of the note, queues were forming outside banks that had begun to limit withdrawals because of the latest shortage of currency. All coins disappeared from circulation two years ago.[/indent]

I doubt it. Bringing the inflation rate down to "merely" fifty percent in a single year would require either:

1. The death or deportation of two-thirds of the country's Negro population, or

2. Massive and sustained food foreign aid, or

3. A transfer of power to a White government, a return of land ownership to White farmers, and a sudden resumption of the investment that was lost due to lost confidence as Mugabe's government began taking farmland away from the White farmers.

(Actually, the latter scenario might take several years to reduce the hyperinflation to only double-digit inflation, since it would take two years for even the best White farmers to ramp up food production back to their pre-expropriation levels. And even longer if they don't have their farm machinery any more and therefore must climb back up the scale of production again.)

Which will do nothing except increase the hyperinflation. Yesterday's highest-denomination banknote won't be worth as much as it costs today to print a banknote. The banknotes printed today will, tomorrow, have more value as fire-fuel than as currency. And then the nigger government will be sending out tax assessors to count the apples on every apple tree, after which nigger apple growers will come by with axes to chop all the apple trees down. It won't end until the country is a complete wasteland, or the niggers are gone, or both.

The same happened in the former Soviet Union. People were carrying the sealed by the banks bricks of money - thousands to buy the grocery. And look who was responsible for the reforms - constantly drunk president Eltzin and very sober yid Gaydar. Tomorrow it might be the USA. this is why it is vital to stockpile dry food, gear to purify water on a long term basis (large solar distillation pans) resources to grow food such as tomatos and the means to defend your supplies from looters.
