Palestinian state television aired on a
morning show last week a video of two
Palestinian girls reciting an anti-Semitic poem. The girls, who look no older that 7 or 8, appear to be reciting the poem from a page overseen by their father. It is not clear who penned the poem.
The video shows one girl reading from the
poem, ostensibly about the Palestinian people and their emotional connection to Jerusalem, denigrates Jews as murderers and compares them to monkeys and swine: “Oh, you who murdered Allah’s pious prophets
Oh, you who were brought up on spilling blood You have been condemned to humiliation and
hardship. Oh Sons of Zion, oh most evil among creations Oh barbaric monkeys, wretched pigs.”
The poem, translated by anti-incitement
watchdog Palestinian Media Watch, also teaches that Jerusalem is not for Jews, because
Jerusalem “vomits” out the Jews who are said to be “filth” and “impure.” As the second girl
reads: “Jerusalem vomits from within it your impurity Because Jerusalem, you impure ones, is pious, immaculate
And Jerusalem, you who are filth, is clean and
pure.”
Israeli politicians have long demanded that the Palestinian Authority crack down on anti-Israel and anti-Semitic incitement in official broadcasts, arguing that its failure to do so was a mark that it is not sincere in its protestations of willingness for peace with Jewish state.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accused the Palestinian Authority of “poisoning
the Palestinian public.”
