NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - Authorities say a teacher from North Carolina has been arrested after he disrupted an Easter Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City.

Here's another angle from Collectively Free New York St. Patrick's Cathedral's disruption on #EasterSunday today.Yes, police and security are so quick at getting violent with peaceful activists who speak for justice, but it is nothing compared to what pigs, chickens, turkeys, fish and so many animals have to endure in the hands of those who live by the highest morals of "thou shalt not kill."It's time that people be reminded of those values while they are being preached. We are unapologetically speaking out for animals.#AnimalRights #HolyWeek #Easter #HeIsRisen #CF

Police say one of the protesters shouted into a bullhorn that "only the devil" could create "animals capable of love and joy just so humans can make them suffer and die."

Police say 23-year-old Jacob Martin was taken into custody and charged with interrupting a religious service.

The animal rights group says Martin is a Christian school teacher.

It's unclear if he has an attorney who could comment on the charges.
