Located just a short distance away from the Kremlin in Moscow stands the National Defense Control Center, a massive building that houses the headquarters of Russia’s military.
Inside the Control Center is an impressive “war room,” a gigantic three-story room from which Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russia’s military leaders are capable of overseeing virtually every detail
of their military efforts in Syria.
The war room features numerous rows of desks and computer terminals on the ground with two balconies ringing around the back side of the room.
The entire front wall of the room is taken up by a collection of several gigantic television screens and high definition monitors that stretch from floor to ceiling and display just about every pertinent detail the
military leaders and their army of analysts could ask for.
It is from here that Putin and his military leaders have been directing his nation’s fight against the radical jihadists who make up the Islamic State group — the fight that President Obama is not waging on
behalf of the United States.
Russian forces originally entered Syria at the end of September to help prop up the embattled dictatorship of Bashar Assad, but recently shifted much of their focus toward the Islamic State group after it
bombed a Russian airliner over Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, killing more than 200 Russian citizens.
The radicals of the Islamic State group should be looking for someplace to hide now, but Putin will probably still be able to find them from his humongous war room at the National Defense Control Center in Moscow.
