NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV (FOX5) -
Officers found a chainsaw as well as several knives inside a ransacked North Las Vegas home where two bodies, one of them partially dismembered, were found earlier this week.

Those details were revealed in a report elaborating on the arrest of 30-year-old Darius Davon Sorrells, who was booked on two counts of murder. North Las Vegas police said Sorrells was already in Las Vegas City Jail on March 29 after he led officers on a high-speed pursuit before crashing the sport-utility vehicle he was driving.

According to the document, officers arrived at a home in the 6100 block of Stibor Street for a welfare check early Monday morning. The document said police checked on the home two times already regarding Janice Burden and Natasha Sorrells, who lived at the residence. There were no responses to officers' calls during the previous checks, police said.

Police were told by a family friend the two did not show up at work.

Entering through a kicked-in rear door, officers found cut-up pieces of carpet, clear plastic bags, knives, chemicals and dark sticky stains on the floors. In addition, a chainsaw with the motor dismantled was found on a kitchen counter.

According to the report, officers then found a body wrapped in a plastic bag and another body found in a bath tub that was covered in blue painter's tape.

In the document, officers observed the legs belonging to the body in the bath tub had been cut off. That body also appeared to have deep cuts along the spine. The report said the legs were later found wrapped in plastic in the home's refrigerator.

As of Wednesday, authorities did not confirm the identities of the bodies found, though, they believed they belonged to the two missing women.

Police were told by neighbors two women and a man, who was later identified as Darius Sorrells, resided at the home. Darius Sorrells was identified as Burden's son as well as Natasha Sorrells' brother. Neighbors and family friends also indicated mental health issues involving Darius Sorrells.

In the report, police said a family friend was contacted a week before by Natasha Sorrells who said she woke up to her brother holding a crow bar over her. The call prompted the first welfare check which was made on March 28 after the friend's calls to Natasha Sorrells went unanswered.

In investigating Darius Sorrells for the deaths, police found a hardware store receipt dated March 28 for a chainsaw inside the SUV involved in the chase.

In an interview, Darius Sorrells claimed memory loss of every event before his arrest on March 29. He also refused to speak any further with investigators.

The report said he showed no emotion when he was told he was being booked for the deaths of his mother and sister.

On Wednesday, the 30-year-old appeared via video link in North Las Vegas Justice Court, where a judge did not set bail.
