Police Trying To Identify Body Found On Fire

LOS ANGELES -- Homicide investigators Saturday sought the identity of a woman whose body was found on fire on a Playa Del Ray street Friday afternoon.

The woman, only identified by police as black, was found by firefighters who received a report of a rubbish blaze.

Firefighters called to the 8100 block of Tuscany Avenue at 2:37 p.m. discovered the body ablaze in the residential street, Brian Humphrey of the city fire department said.

Police said they have few clues as to who the woman was or how she got there.

An autopsy was pending Saturday.
