Shelter volunteer in court today in dog-sex case

A volunteer at Denver's Municipal Animal Shelter who is accused of luring a basset hound into a sexual act will be in court today, jail officials said.
Gustavo Castanon, 33, is scheduled to be arraigned this morning on misdemeanor animal cruelty in Denver County Court. His bail is set at $10,000.

Castanon was arrested after a co-worker reported seeing him coaxing the dog to perform oral sex on Saturday, according to a police report.
Shelter officials suspended Castanon and notified police, Doug Kelley, shelter director told CBS4.

"There was no apparent injury to the animal," Kelley told CBS4. Castanon was convicted in 1998 of exposing himself at Cheesman Park, according to court records.
