A St. Clair County Board of Review member used racial slurs in front of a Cahokia police officer to refer to a 14-year-old boy he had fought with, according to a police report.
In the report, Officer Elijah Moyers said Kevin T. Malone, 51, complained that a juvenile boy stared him down and said "[blank] you, white man, why don't you step into the street?"
Malone said he responded by saying "why don't you come into my yard [racial slur]?" The juvenile stepped into Malone's driveway in the 200 block of St. John Drive and punched Malone in the face, according to the report.
A scuffle developed, and several youths allegedly gathered around, but the fight was broken up.
Moyers said he asked Malone to stop using the racial slurs. Malone later vowed to have the officer fired, the report alleged. Both Malone and the boy were charged with disorderly conduct.
The board of review handles real estate tax complaints.
Malone owns property in Cahokia and was in the process of moving to Freeburg when the fight took place.
