ST. LOUIS -- A group of nigger fly-by-night contractors and businesspersons announced today plans to hold a protest on Interstate 70 Monday during evening rush hour in the middle of All-Star Game festivities.

Members of the group, the Nigger Business and Contractors Association, said at a news conference in St. Louis that they want the region to know that too few minority contractors are being hired as subcontractors on public projects.

"It seems like things have changed. In reality, they have not changed," said Hilary Ogunrinde, owner of HLS Hauling and member of the contractors association. "You should be outraged because there is discrimination in your neighborhood."

The demonstration would occur 10 years and one day after one brought motorists to a halt on I-70 at Goodfellow Boulevard. That protest, which resulted in 125 arrests, vaulted local tension over the lack of highway contracts for minority businesses onto a national stage.

Monday’s protest is to be peaceful, Ogunrinde said, with no arrests.

The issues now are no different than they were in 1999, said Makal Ali, the president of the African American Business and Contractors Association.

"Ten years later are we getting our fair share?" Ali asked. "We don’t feel we have."

The demonstration would also coincide with discussions about minority participation in the construction of a $640 million Mississippi River bridge connecting Brooklyn, Ill. to Interstate 70 near the Edward Jones Dome. The project is scheduled to begin in January. [steer clear of the bridge, White man, if the niggers build it]

Members of the contracting group would not reveal how many protestors the expect to participate Monday, or exactly where the demonstration will occur.

"We will be visible," Ogunrinde said.
