Congressman calls Miami a `Third World country'

BY LESLEY CLARK

lclark@MiamiHerald.com

JACK DEMPSEY/AP
OUTSPOKEN: Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., is no fan of Miami's ethnic makeup.

WASHINGTON - Rep. Tom Tancredo, the leader of the anti-illegal immigration faction in the U.S. House, spent a recent weekend at The Breakers in Palm Beach.
Ninety miles to the south, he found a symbol to bolster his belief that unfettered immigration is endangering the United States: Miami, he told a conservative online news site, ``has become a Third World country.''
In South Florida to attend Restoration Weekend, a gathering of conservative activists, the Colorado Republican, whose district includes suburbs of Denver, pointed to Miami as an example of how ''the nature of America can be changed by uncontrolled immigration,'' the story says.
''Look at what has happened to Miami,'' the WorldNetDaily quotes Tancredo as saying in an interview. ``It has become a Third World country. You just pick it up and take it and move it someplace. You would never know you're in the United States of America. You would certainly say you're in a Third World country.''
The remarks drew an instant rebuke from Miami Republican Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, who called Tancredo ''flat out wrong'' and extended an invitation for him to come and judge the city for himself.
''I invite my friend, Tom, to visit beautiful Miami, my hometown, and experience firsthand our hospitality,'' Ros-Lehtinen said. ``Come on down, Tom, the water's fine!''
Miami, Ros-Lehtinen said, is a ``world class city where diversity is celebrated. Here people have the opportunity to meet folks from across the globe and honor different cultures. Miami-Dade County is home to many outstanding universities, is headquarters to international businesses and has a vibrant economy.''
Tancredo, who chairs the bipartisan House Immigration Reform Caucus and championed a fence along the border with Mexico, said Monday in an e-mail sent by his office that his comparison was based on crime statistics he believes ``are deeply rooted in the immigration debate.
''While a recent documentary comparison of Miami-Dade County to Baghdad was a bit of an overstatement,'' he wrote, referring to an Australian documentary that compares Miami to Baghdad, ``no one can argue that it is not one of America's most dangerous areas.''
He noted in the e-mail that the number of homicides in the county recently reached 200 for the year. The number is actually a decrease from the 1980s.
''Moreover, the sheer size and number of ethnic enclaves devoid of any English and dominated by foreign cultures is widespread,'' Tancredo said in the statement. ``Frankly, many of these areas could have been located in another country. And until America gets serious about demanding assimilation, this problem will continue to spread.''
Tancredo didn't visit Miami on the Nov. 18-19 trip, but has visited before, a spokesman said. And, if Ros-Lehtinen's invitation includes ''a stay at a five-star beachfront resort, he may be willing to look beyond the inherent dangers that he had cited and visit Miami again,'' his spokesman said.
Tancredo, who has been mentioned as a potential presidential contender, criticized President Bush in the interview for Bush's push for comprehensive immigration reform.
''He is going to do what he can to create a place where the idea of America is just that -- it's an idea,'' Tancredo said. ``It's not an actual place defined by borders. I mean this is where this guy is really going.''

 to Tom calling it like it is. Hope he speaks some harsh realities about Detroit next. Tom for president in'08!

I find this quote quite laughable:
Ros-Lehtinen's invitation includes ''a stay at a five-star beachfront resort, he may be willing to look beyond the inherent dangers that he had cited and visit Miami again,'' his spokesman said.

Sounds like a tourist trying to sell a trip to Mexico or one of the other tropical 3rd worlds. Sure, you can visit, but don't leave the resort! They really stuck their foot in their mouth on that one. Tancredo never said there weren't nice resorts, he just pointed out that some (most) of the rest of Miami is a 3rd world cess pool.

The only reason to compare Miami to Baghdad would be if a politician had called Miami a war zone, which someone might have done. I wonder how Miami compared?

US 'suburbs more violent than Iraq'By Jonathon Moran

MORE fighting goes on in parts of suburban US than Iraq, according to Australian filmmaker George Gittoes who has just finished a documentary set in a Miami "war zone".

Gittoes' latest feature, Rampage, contrasts life for a family living in the blue-collar community of Brown Sub, Miami, with ongoing fighting in Iraq.

"It is much worse in Miami than it is in Baghdad," Gittoes said in Sydney today.

"There is a sense of people with guns, drug dealers lairing at you ... and being there, I knew I was in a war zone."

Rampage is the second in Gittoes trilogy of documentaries based on the war in Iraq.

It follows the success of 2004s Soundtrack to War, which depicted American soldiers and their music in Iraq.

The film will be released in cinemas around the world and Gittoes is expecting plenty of controversy.

"Even left-wing Americans ... don't want to recognise the mess they've got in their own backyard," he said.

Gittoes has spent much of his career travelling the world, painting, filming and photographing wars in places such as Rwanda, Afghanistan, and East Timor.

"To me, this was just another war zone and it was in America," he said.

Gittoes said there were similar stories to Rampage in Australia's indigenous communities, although he said the task of translating that on the big screen would be difficult.

"The film that I'd like to make in Australia I couldn't make," he said.

"All of our politically correct laws and things wouldn't let someone like me make a film like this in an Aboriginal community in Australia."

The final film in the trilogy, Fearless, and will examine the impact of the Iraq war on the American soldiers who have fought there.

"It is about the difficulty of exit and how much the soldiers have changed and become hardened warriors and how much the people they're fighting have changed as well," he said.

Rampage opens nationally on November 30.

Sadly, quite well I'm sure. Look at any of our turd world areas of the country: Compton, LA, Miami, Detroit, (basically any high mud populated area) and you see gangs roaming the streets shooting over drugs and someone looked at them the wrong way, etc. Not to mention these turd worlders set out on destroying anything in their path like a plague of savage locusts (graffiti, trash, you name it).

I wouldn't quite make the leap of a comparison to Baghdad yet, but it wont be too long if something isn't done.

All of the bigger cities in the US look the same once you get off of the interstate and walk around in the middle of them. You do fill like you are in a third world country thrash, non whites and filth every where. I have been in every major city in the US one is just like the other.

Used to be each city had its own different charector not any more.

I believe it.

I remember in 1984 when I flew in from Brazil and flew into Miami that I still felt like I was in South America because everyone spoke Spanish. It wasn't until I reach West Palm Beach that I found English speaking people and felt like I was back in the states. That was 1984 so I am sure it has gotten so much worst since then.

All the states are having to deal with this invasion and are becoming third world countries.

It looks to me like this funny-named Aussie, no doubt an international jew himself, has revealed something embarrassing to ZOG -USA, that our darkie cities are naturally just as violent as our insane fanatical Arabs enemies' cities. So Tancredo does his bit for ZOG and deflects attention from the film by making a "replacement" story about the third world. This third world charge can easily be met with 5 star hotel bullshit, while the darkie violence cannot be refuted or met with any smart alec remarks.

I dont see IED's blowing up clueless ZOGbots in Miami, or mortar rounds hitting mercenary compounds at Miami drive.

I do acknowledge the fact that Miami is a shithole, just as the state of Florida has become. Since Johnson set foot in the office, Florida has turned California, and Cali has turned totally ape-shit.

Why people need sun or relaxation in FL is unknown to me.

Tom is absolutely right. Miami is a cesspool.

Absolutely fucking sickening. How the fuck does one "celebrate diversity"?

Although earlier biographies listed her religious affiliation as Roman Catholic, she no longer makes reference to her religion in her official biography.[5] Her mother was Jewish but converted to Catholicism.

Remember George Wallace, Ross Barnett and all the allegedly pro-White politicians of the past who gave Whites hope while refusing to name the GD jews ??

Never, ever trust any "leader" too GD yellow to name the GD jews. They give us false hope while leading us into defeat.

Tancredo and Ron Paul are pussies who'll abandon us the minute jews tell them to.
