LINCOLN PARK — The Wayne County medical examiner has ruled the death of nine-day-old Nevaeh Richardson a homicide, Lincoln Park police said today.
Nobody has been charged with the crime, but police were continuing their investigation. Nevaeh was rushed to the hospital the day after Thanksgiving, said Adie Green, the child’s paternal grandmother.
The baby was bleeding from the mouth and rectum, she said, and died at the hospital.
The child’s father, 21-year-old Christopher Ryan Richardson, was arraigned this afternoon on charges of domestic violence, third offense, a felony punishable by up to two years in jail and/or a $2,500 fine.
Police are continuing their investigation into the death of the premature newborn.
“This is a terrible crime. It’s the worst thing I have ever come in contact with and it’s the worst thing I’ve ever heard of, said Lincoln Park Police Chief Thomas Karnes.
