The Satanic Stabbing of Salman Rushdie and the Dangerous Iran Deal

(JNS) The attempted murder on Friday of Salman Rushdie is the latest in a string of appalling incidents that ought to put the United States and its P5+1 partners to shame for their efforts to revive the 2015 nuclear deal with the evil regime in Tehran.

When asked by an AFP reporter on Thursday about the EU draft; what effect, if any, the “plot unveiled” against Bolton and Pompeo will have on it; and how soon Washington will make a decision, the State Department principal deputy spokesperson replied:

“We and the Europeans have made quite clear that we are prepared to immediately conclude and implement the deal we negotiated in Vienna for a mutual return to the full implementation of the JCPOA. But for that to happen, Iran needs to decide to drop their additional demands that go beyond the JCPOA. Ultimately, the choice is theirs. This administration, along with our allies and partners, are preparing equally for scenarios with and without a mutual return to the full implementation of the JCPOA. The president, [Joe Biden], and Secretary [of State Antony] Blinken will only conclude a deal that we determine is in the national security interest of the United States.”

The Biden administration want Iran to accept the same terms of the 2015 JCPOA nuclear agreement. But Iran wants compensation because of sanctions imposed by the Trump administration before accepting the same agreement Donald Trump walked away from.

Israel and their neoconservative alliance in Washington want sanctions to remain, and for the Biden administration to walk away from the deal. As they want to bleed Iran dry through sanctions to cause the Iranian government to fall.

The Biden administration has completed their side of the agreement. It is simply a case of Iran accepting it and signing on the dotted line.

Then, suddenly, Salman Rushdie is attacked by a mad knifeman carrying a faked I.D. with the name of the dead Iranian General Hassan Mughniyah (killed by the U.S.) on it, and the Biden administration is now under renewed pressure not to deal with Iran.

Blind faith, laced with willful ignorance, seasoned by arrogance, is not a formula for success, as the Biden administration will soon discover. After a year of humiliating American concessions — including preemptive sanctions relief — to the planet’s most egregious terrorist state, the 2015 Iran nuclear deal is rising from the dead. The tone of this debate need not be partisan, although in today’s Washington that is far from likely.
