What male doesn't love being 100.00% right?
From a couple of weeks ago:
What does this do? It puts the Syrians and Iranians right in the middle of a civil war we've started. Moreover, the Iranians will have to back Kurdish indepedance in Iraq while maintaining suppression of the Kurdish agitators in their own country. Same with Syria. This gives us a free hand to make all kinds of mischief on both parties and essentially to get them all fighting one another--not to mention helping to enflame the Kurds when we feel like it (our intel services have been close w/ the Kurds since at least the 1950s).
(snipped replies saying "no we're getting our asses kicked in Iraq, otherwise, why are we basically confined to the Green Zone?")
NOW:
Add the Saudis, who have been quietly sending aid to Sunni militias in Iraq since the invasion.
When the U.S. invaded Iraq, it removed the lynch-pin that held together the whole charade: CIA running-dog Saddam Hussein, and his carefully-crafted network of informants. Breaking this network had everything to do with disbanding the Baathists (even as everyone else thought it was a "huge mistake'--it wasn't). It's folly to think we ever thought the Iraqis had a chance at holding those factions together in a single state. Now, regimes in SW Asia will all be oriented towards Iraq, and not Israel. The whole area could quickly turn into a bloodbath. It's "Good for Jews."

Now, can you guys see why U.S. forces only care about keeping the "Green Zone"--now that it amounts to an air-conditioned front-row boxseat at the next big event in this New American Century?
