If someone had said to me back in 1983 that I'd ever have anything good to say about Adolf Hitler, I'd have said, "you're crazy."
But today, the worst thing that I can say about Hitler is "he probably should not have invaded Poland in 1939 because it gave his enemies a huge advantage (by making Hitler look "aggressive").
Indeed, Hitler was ultimately a kind man. When asked by a friend why he didn't massacre the British soldiers at Dunkirk, he said (paraphrasing) "it wasn't in my nature to do that." So much for being a "brutal thug"! Stalin would have killed all of them. Ditto Lenin and Mao.
