Salesman accused of lewdness arrested in Clearfield

Clearfield police have arrested a door-to-door salesman on charges of sexual battery and lewdness.

After news stories appeared on deseretnews.com and elsewhere about the cleaning supply salesman whom police alleged exposed himself to potential customers and groped a woman, investigators said other victims came forward.

The man, identified by police as 23-year-old Kenneth Dwayne Goodlow, also went to the Clearfield Police Department to speak to investigators.

"It was because of the story other victims were identified and a criminal is now behind bars," Clearfield Assistant Police Chief Greg Krusi said in a statement Friday.

Police put out a public warning on Thursday, but expressed frustration that none of the women who complained were willing to press charges. Other police departments soon contacted Clearfield police, concerned about Goodlow. Salem police detectives questioned Goodlow about a burglary in the Utah County town.

"After gathering information from the interviews and presenting this information to the Davis County Attorney's Office, we received their blessing in charging Mr. Goodlow with sexual battery, class A misdemeanor, and two counts of lewdness, a class B misdemeanor," Krusi said.

Goodlow was booked into the Davis County Jail, where he is being held on nearly $4,000 in bail. Formal criminal charges were filed Friday morning in 2nd District Court.

Another source reports Goodlow will be charged with burglary in Salem as well.

Here was an interesting comment posted to the KSL story:

He better not do this to my wife...
by Jason C. @ 10:02am - Fri Jul 11th, 2008

Not sure if the stereotype is correct but if it is I do not want a black man flashing my wife. I would get home and have to hear something like "So, thats all you got to offer?" There are some things I want my wife ignorant of. The real victims in this are the husbands when they get home and have to admit vacuum cleaner do come in larger sizes.

Not only was the comment NOT censored, but no one accused him of racism.
