Woman Rushed To Hospital After Being Set On Fire

Police are investigating an unthinkable crime in the heart of the downtown core. Details are sketchy, but early reports suggest a woman was set on fire in the area of Devonshire and Bloor St. around 7:30pm Monday night. A flammable substance, which is believed to be lighter fluid, was apparently poured on the victim and set alight.

Two people saw what was happening and rushed in to douse the flames, likely one reason police say the woman's injuries aren't life threatening. But she did receive at least second degree burns over part of her body and has been rushed to hospital for emergency treatment. It's believed she's 44 years of age.

Cops don't yet know the motive but they may soon get some answers. Two men have been arrested and charged with aggravated assault in this disturbing case.
