Company called Cognizant pays moderators 28.8k a year to review an average of 1500 posts per week. All moderators have an accuracy score, which starts out at 100%. Moderators (grunts) are evaluated by a "QA" (sergeant) who takes a random sample of their posts and reviews them himself. If there is a discrepancy between sarge and a grunt, then grunt's accuracy score is reduced. Anyone under 95% accuracy can be fired. In turn, QAs have their reviews randomly sampled and sent to the actual facebook headquarters to be verified by real facebook employees.

Story revolves around hysterical woman named Chloe who has panic attacks and has to leave the room (lol) when she sees videos of cartels chopping off heads or drone strikes in Afghanistan. Another character is Randy, a QA who started carrying a concealed pistol after moderators mobbed his car in the parking lot.

best part:

“People really started to believe these posts they were supposed to be moderating,” she says. “They were saying, ‘Oh gosh, they weren’t really there. Look at this CNN video of David Hogg — he’s too old to be in school.’ People started Googling things instead of doing their jobs and looking into conspiracy theories about them. We were like, ‘Guys, no, this is the crazy stuff we’re supposed to be moderating. What are you doing?’”
