We read this morning that unemployment by the governments U-3 number hit 9.4% in May.
By the Bureau of Labor Statistics alternate measure, U-6, the number is...
U-6 Total unemployed, plus all marginally attached
workers, plus total employed part time for
economic reasons, as a percent of the civilian
labor force plus all marginally attached workers.. 16.4%
Both numbers are likely higher, but 9.4% and 16.4% should begin to get some real attention.
Of course, the DJIA is up slightly and the dollar has spiked up hugely today.
