Teen, 15, accused of raping 18-year-old girl Eyewitness News
(Pleasantville - WABC, July 5, 2007) - A 15-year-old Mount Pleasant boy was arrested Friday and charged with raping an 18-year old girl.

Police say Luis Flores was a resident of the Mount Pleasant Cottage School in Pleasantville, which is a residence for troubled youth.
They say he raped a female resident around 8 p.m. Thursday. The attack allegedly happened in a wooded area after Flores threatened to burn the victim with a lighter.

He is being charged as an adult.

Police say they received a call at 8:22 p.m. from a staff member from the Edenwald School, which is part of the Cottage School, regarding the alleged rape of a resident.

The Mount Pleasant Police Department and the District Attorney's office will continue to investigate.

Police say Flores was originally picked up in New York City. They say he is from Guatamala and had no identification. They are unsure as to his actual age and whether or not he is in the country illegally.

The Edenwald School is part of the Pleasantville Cottage School. They are on the same campus 1075 Broadway. This incident comes four months after a 12-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting another 12-year-old boy.

The school released the following statement: "We are distressed about this alleged unfortunate assault. We have notified the police and are cooperating fully with the investigation. Our primary concern is the safety of the children, staff, and the community." - Jane Barowitz, Jewish Child Care Association
