Washington sniper John Allen Muhammad execution set for today.

John Allen Muhammad is set to be executed in merely a few hours’ time. It is seven long years when he was found guilty of killing ten people from sniper attacks in cold blood.

His wife now claims that he wanted to kill her and not the ten others but said she was always fearful for her life and had done her best to appraise people of his intentions.

John Allen became John Muhammad after he joined nation of Islam, a fringe Muslim group mainly consisting of African American converts.

The group till a long time did not count any other group out of its fold as Muslims.

John Allen Muhammad’s crime became known when some alert people saw him and informed the authorities about in around seven years ago.

His trial for one of the murders began in October 2003, and the following month, he was found guilty of capital murder. Four months later he was sentenced to death.

While awaiting execution in Virginia, in August 2005, he was extradited to Maryland to face some of the charges there, for which he was convicted of six counts of first-degree murder on May 30, 2006.

Upon completion of the trial activity in Maryland, it was planned that he next be returned to Virginia's death row unless some agreement is reached with another state or the District of Columbia seeking to try him.
