Police Officer shoots 12-year-old boy: Black “community” works itself in to frenzy

An unnamed West Memphis, Arkansas police officer shot 12-year-old DeAuntae “Tae Tae” Farrow 22 June 2007 (Friday). The officer stated that he thought the Farrow was holding a gun.

Sharpton flew into Memphis 1 July 2007 (Sunday), to attend the funeral for Farrow. He demanded to speak with the police chief and mayor.

It was a hell of funeral. The city paid for the funeral; so the Blacks went all out for an extraganza. “In a service that churned up a religious fervor, more than 2,000 people swelled the West Memphis Civic Auditorium,” according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal.

Other Black Activists Swarm: The Memphis branch of the NAACP is hints at violence and demanded the FBI join the investigation (the FBI was already investigating it as a possible civil rights violation). Johnnie Turner, NAACP executive director, stated: “This is a very volatile issue. The community is highly upset and so are we.”
