White teacher stands out in black studies

TAMPA - Eric Duke resembles a student - Kangol caps, diamond stud earrings - until he gets in front of the classroom and speaks with authority about Ella Baker and other black figures.
His lectures on race aren't for the politically correct. White people still control society, and their racist attitudes prevail, he says.
"I don't sugarcoat it," Duke, 33, said in an interview. "There's racial privilege. We can't blame victims of racism for racism. The general public's perception is probably shocked at me teaching this. But it's not uncommon in academic circles."
What is uncommon is Duke's race, given his job.
He's the only white faculty member of the only graduate-level African-American studies program in Florida.
He joined the University of South Florida's Africana Studies Department as an instructor last fall. The youngest in the group, Duke rejects the "Tweed Army" professorial approach to teaching. He paces and gestures, his voice rising with the subject matter.
He uses fliers to promote his classes. This fall: black radical thought. "Is it afros, kente cloth, dashikis and clenched fists?" The question is printed under black power fists and above the black nationalist flag.
Duke grew up in Mobile, Ala., in a middle-class, integrated neighborhood. It was a different life from his parents' poverty-stricken childhoods in the segregated South. His mother grew up on a tobacco farm, his father in a mill town in Tennessee.
In Alabama, Duke was drawn to the subject of race and its effect on relationships. His parents realized the world had changed and encouraged interaction, Duke said. But society forced choices. White and black children went their separate ways at the end of the school day.
"I grew up knowing the great hatred, white racism, the despicable history," Duke said. "Race relations have not improved that much. If people think white kids listening to rap music or white men wanting to be with (black actress) Halle Berry improves it, they're wrong. The world is not any better."
Duke earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Florida State University. He's just short of receiving a Ph.D. from Michigan State University.
Duke and his wife, Jody, who is black, have a 1-year-old daughter, Mya. Their pictures dot his office, where the black nationalist flag hangs next to the Jamaican banner. The rest is packed with books covering most shelves and desktops.

So blacks are not to be blamed for their actions. it is all about the racism of whitey. Yes, very shocking. What a rebellious idea in today's society!:rolleyes: I like how he says this is not uncommon in academic circles as if to suggest that well educated people accept this as fact, because they are smarter. And as if people in academic circles are not going to have any effect on the "general public's perception of things. He can't be that stupid.
It is not surprising that someone who clearly hates himself this much would end up with a niggger.

What is funny is that idiots like this seem to think that blacks actually respect and accept them, and for someone eaten up by all kinds of white guilt bullshit, this is something they crave. In reality they are probably calling him a stupid honkey.

This is a trend I've noticed--using the term "politically correct" when what is meant is actually "politically incorrect." I don't think it's an oversight. Granted, the whole idea of "political correctness" is a ridiculous one (it was originally used satirically by the hippies of the 60s), but this is more jewish sleight-of-hand. Confuse, confuse, confuse. When no one knows what terms mean, one can be convinced of anything. In this case, what could be more politically correct than a (apparently) white man lecturing on the evils of White racism? It's the very definition of political correctness.
His PhD thesis should be a hilarious read.

Yeah, I always get a laugh out of these people. They think they are such rebels, going against the grain, fighting the good fight against injustice, etc. etc., when all they are is towing the "party" line, straight out of the book - they think they are going against the system, when they haven't realized yet that they ARE the system. It's people like us who are true rebels and look how we are treated.
