Thank you Kievsky for your encouraging words of doom and gloom. I think i'm gonna go hide now in the dark and wait for armageddon.
Check out some of the best sellers from the 1970's, there were books about the coming global crash, the big depression that's coming that's gonna be just awful. In fact, there has never been a time in history when sad pathetic people haven't been trying to scare other stupid people with horrible stories of tragedy just around the corner. It really is a twisted thing, a kind of psychological sadism, and in some cases, if you're scaring yourself,(although I bet Keivsky has lots of 30 year municipal bonds in his portfolio), masochistic. What if the real enemy is the doom and gloomers? Everyone instinctively loathes chicken littles, henny penny the sky is falling , monkeys beating on their can to get attention and status.
I was watching this show about monkeys, this study done by Jane Gooddall, and one of the low ranking monkeys discovered if he took a metal gasoline can and banged it around loudly, it scared the other monkeys and they began to revere him. His social status went from lowests to a sort of highest, alpha male status, in that he was the most feared.
You should all sit down and watch that movie, with Robin Williams, The Survivors. I love the ending where that guy who's always telling these people the end of the world is near, is caught with a million dollars in 30 year bonds. lol. That's what these guys are, just dooms day hucksters and con artsts, no solutions, just fear, scare-mongers, the lowest sort of human being and yet, hardly the most rare.
You are demonstrating your shallow depth of knowledge about the economy. The real estate bubble is real and is crashing as we speak. The different economic factors at work in this country such as rampant credit creation, dollar vulnerability, de-industrialization, indebtedness, lack of real wage increases, and the trade deficit have created the conditions for an economic perfect storm. The economic position of the US right now is something very unprecedented in history. It does have many parallels to America before the Great Depression with many more negatives thrown in. If you want to believe the government paid cheerleaders who tell you everything is fine that is your prerogative. So before you take cheap-shots at Kievsky with mind-bogglingly stupid analogies about Robin Williams movies do some research, and tell us specifically why you think things are just fine economically. Gives us specific facts about fiscal and monetary policy and statistics before you make silly posts such as this one.

Experts: U.S. likely to be hit again
By LARA JAKES JORDAN,[color="Red"] Associated Press Writer Sun Sep 10, 10:29 AM ET
WASHINGTON - The threat of terrorism against the United States remains chillingly lethal five years after 9/11, and officials predict another massive attack is not a matter of if — but when.
Despite a government overhaul and more than $250 billion spent to bolster security on airlines, at borders and in seaports, few doubt al-Qaida's intent to strike the U.S. again. That the nation hasn't been hit since Sept. 11, 2001, may say as much about terrorists' patience as it does about steps taken to stop them.
"I know of nobody in the intelligence field who doesn't believe there will be another attack," said Thomas Kean, former New Jersey governor and Republican chair of the 9/11 Commission that investigated the government's security missteps leading up to the 2001 hijackings.
"There's going to be another attack," Kean said. "They just can't tell you when."
