Why do Hmong live in Minnesota?

Back in the day...

It's a liberal state. That means lots of democrats. That translates into lots of laws providing government aide. Such as, lots of FREE welfare, medical care, and social security at the expense of tax payers.

So, naturally, when the Hmong migrated to the US, a lot of them flocked to Minnesota. Why do you think a lot of Hmong live in California? It's even more liberal and democratic than Minnesota. But, these days California has cracked down on welfare, so logically, a lot of Hmong shifted towards Minnesota. Even though it's cold as heck and you have to live through winter 9 out of the 12 months of the year. My wife is from Minnesota, I don't think she ever wants to move back.

There are some Hmong in North Carolina, Georgia, and elsewhere, but those people have moved to those places purely for the "country" living. They decided to forgo the free government money and get jobs and enjoy the mountains and nature.

These days...
Hmong live in Minnesota primarily because there are a lot of Hmong there and you know how we're all family oriented and stuff. Of course, a lot of Minnesota Hmong have jobs and careers these days. So, it's not like it used to be where everyone you knew ate food bought with food stamps. The Hmong are moving up in the world.
