UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) says at least 21,000 children in Gaza have been left disabled since Israel launched its genocidal war on the besieged strip in October 2023.
In a review released Wednesday, the CRPD reported that there are “at least 21,000 children with disabilities in Gaza as a result of impairments acquired since October 7, 2023.”
It further said that around 40,500 children had suffered “new war-related injuries” in the nearly two years since the war erupted, with more than half of them left disabled.
Philippe Lazzarini, the head of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), last month said that more than 40,000 children had either been killed or injured following Israel's genocidal war and an all-out blockade of Gaza.
In recent months, Lazzarini has repeatedly warned that the Gaza Strip has become a “graveyard” for children.

Distinguished Palestinian intellectual dies from famine imposed by Israel in Gaza
Friday, 05 September 2025 10:27 AM [ Last Update: Friday, 05 September 2025 11:26 AM ]
A leading Palestinian academic, literary figure, and poet has passed away due to severe malnutrition caused by Israel's prolonged blockade of the Gaza Strip, as the regime continues its genocidal war in the Palestinian territory.
According to local media reports, Omar Harb died on Thursday after experiencing a deterioration in his health condition in recent weeks.
The overall count of deaths associated with famine in Gaza has increased to 370, predominantly affecting children, women, and the elderly.
The 60-year-old scholar had faced significant hardship and declining physical health due to the war and blockade. Harb also suffered the loss of at least 26 family members, which included his wife, multiple children, and grandchildren. Additionally, five residences belonging to his family were obliterated by Israeli assaults.
Prior to October 2023, Harb's weight was approximately 120 kilograms. During one of his final media appearances, the scholar's weight had decreased to no more than 40 kilograms.
Harb appeared emaciated during the interview and conveyed his grief regarding the challenges he encountered, particularly the loss of his loved ones.
He additionally requested food, medication, treatment, and even a new wheelchair — none of which arrived in time to save him.
Harb, who held various qualifications in psychology and graduated from the renowned al-Azhar University in Egypt, was involved in his field until the commencement of Israel's war on Gaza, regularly attending regional events.
Since 2007, Israel has imposed a siege on Gaza, severely impacting the lives of the 2.2 million Palestinians residing in the territory. Harb provided assistance to those enduring these hardships by delivering psychological support.

Six Palestinians, including people waiting for aid, have been killed by the Israeli forces’ gunfire and ongoing bombardment in areas across the Gaza Strip.
WAFA news agency reported on Saturday that at least six Palestinian civilians, including aid-seekers, were killed and dozens wounded in the early hours of the day from Israeli regime forces’ intense machine gun fire and ongoing bombardment on Gaza City and Khan Younis, south of the Gaza Strip.
Palestinian medical sources cited by WAFA said a child was killed in Israeli artillery shelling on the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood in Gaza City, and an elderly man was killed in Israeli forces’ gunfire in the Al-Mawasi area southwest of Khan Younis.
Also, two more Palestinians were killed and approximately 17 others were injured in a separate attack as a result of Israeli shelling of gatherings of civilians at a humanitarian aid distribution point south of Wadi Gaza, in the central Gaza Strip.

Yemeni drone successfully hits Israeli airport in Eilat
Sunday, 07 September 2025 7:37 PM [ Last Update: Sunday, 07 September 2025 7:37 PM ]
A drone fired by Yemen’s armed forces has hit an airport in the Israeli-controlled city of Eilat, a first such strike by the Yemenis targeting key economic infrastructure in the south of the Israeli-occupied territories.
The Israeli Airports Authority said on Sunday that the drone that crashed into the passenger terminal at the Ramon International Airport earlier in the day had wounded one person while inflicting considerable damage on the property.
The Israeli military said the attack caused a brief closure of the airspace in the area and caused authorities to divert flights passing over the south of the Israeli-occupied territories.
Yemen’s ruling Houthi Ansarullah movement claimed responsibility for the strike.
The group, which leads Yemen’s armed forces, has repeatedly targeted airports in the Israeli capital of Tel Aviv since late 2023, when it started attacks on the Israeli regime to force it to stop its genocidal war on the Palestinians in Gaza.

US lawmaker exposes Israeli lobby’s ‘incredible influence and control’ on Congress‘Israel is the only country I know of that has some sort of incredible influence and control over nearly every single one of my colleagues,’ says Marjorie Taylor GreeneRabia Iclal Turan | 20.08.2025 - Update : 21.08.2025US congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene accused Israel of having “incredible influence and control” on nearly all members of Congress, exposing pro-Israel lobby trips for American lawmakers to visit Israel.
In an interview on The Megyn Kelly Show on Tuesday, Greene said no other country enjoys the level of political leverage in the US as Israel.
“Israel is the only country I know of that has some sort of incredible influence and control over nearly every single one of my colleagues,” she said.
Her comments came as Kelly described receiving repeated invitations and pressure to travel to Israel. “I have had multiple, multiple reach outs to me, both from friends and from connected people in DC, begging me to go to Israel with them. And I have said no every time,” Kelly said, adding that the outreach had intensified in recent months in light of her criticism of Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip.
Greene argued that activities by the pro-Israel American lobby, the Israel Political Affairs Committee, or AIPAC, amount to foreign lobbying without accountability.
“AIPAC argues, oh, but we're Americans. Yes, they are Americans, but they are coming to Congress and to the federal government asking on behalf of the country of Israel,” she said.
Unlike other foreign-linked groups, she noted that AIPAC is not required to register under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).
Shooting operation in West Bank: 5 Israelis killed, at least 15 wounded
Monday, 08 September 2025 9:55 AM [ Last Update: Monday, 08 September 2025 9:55 AM ]
A shooting operation in the occupied West Bank has left five Israelis dead and injured at least 15 others, according to Israeli authorities.
The attackers boarded a bus and opened fire at Ramot Junction entrance near al-Quds City, during an unusually heavy traffic jam on Monday morning, investigators said.
The attackers reportedly entered a bus on line 62 and opened fire on passengers before continuing to shoot outside until they were killed by the Israeli police.
The Israeli regime’s paramedic service, Magen David Adom (MDA), which initially reported 15 injuries, confirmed that several people were in critical condition and were taken to the hospital.
“Medics are providing treatment and evacuating [several] individuals in serious condition, suffering from gunshot wounds, to hospitals" in al-Quds, MDA said.
"Additional casualties at the scene are being treated for various levels of injuries,” it added.

Another Palestinian journalist killed in Israeli strike on Gaza; death toll soars to 250
Monday, 08 September 2025 11:31 AM [ Last Update: Monday, 08 September 2025 11:31 AM ]
Local authorities in the Gaza Strip say a Palestinian photojournalist has been killed in an Israeli offensive on the coastal sliver, in the latest attack on reporters in the besieged territory since the occupying Tel Aviv regime launched its all-out war there.
The officials said Osama Ahmed Balousha lost his life in the strike that targeted his family home in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of Gaza City early on Monday.
The new fatality brought the death toll of journalists in Gaza since October 2023 to 250.
On August 25, five journalists were killed in an Israeli strike on the Nasser Medical Complex in southern Gaza.
Among the victims were Al Jazeera photographer Mohammad Salama, Reuters photojournalist Hussam al-Masri, Mariam Abu Daqqa, who reported for several outlets including The Independent Arabic and the Associated Press, and journalist Moaz Abu Taha.
The Gaza Ministry of Health said at the time that the victims were killed on the hospital's fourth floor in a "double-tap strike" – one missile hitting first, followed moments later by a second as rescue crews rushed to the scene.
Greta Thunberg's Gaza flotilla hit by drone, organisers claim

One of the Gaza-bound vessels carrying aid and pro-Palestinian activists including Greta Thunberg was struck by a drone, the flotilla organisers have claimed.
Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) posted footage on Instagram that appeared to show the Portuguese-flagged vessel being hit by an object, and said all six passengers and crew were safe after the incident outside the Tunisian port of Sidi Bou Said.
Tunisian authorities quoted by Reuters said reports a drone was involved "had no basis in truth", adding an initial inspection indicated the explosion originated inside the vessel.
The humanitarian aid flotilla set sail from Barcelona last week, and arrived in Tunisia on Sunday.
The GSF said their "Family boat" was struck in Tunisian waters, and fire had damaged the main deck.
In a series of videos published to their Instagram, spokespeople for the GSF said an "incendiary device" caused a fire onboard the vessel, which the crew was able to extinguish.
A spokesperson for the Tunisian national guard also told the AFP news agency "no drone" had been detected and the investigation was continuing.
BBC Verify has authenticated several videos of a claimed strike on the "Family" vessel off the coast of Tunisia.

Croatian president refuses to meet with Israeli foreign minister over Gaza genocide
Wednesday, 10 September 2025 7:00 AM [ Last Update: Wednesday, 10 September 2025 7:00 AM ]
Croatian President Zoran Milanovic has declined to meet with the Israeli foreign minister, Gideon Saar, during his official visit to Zagreb, over the regime's ongoing genocidal war in Gaza.
In a social media statement posted on Tuesday, Milanovic questioned the decision of Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, Foreign Minister Gordan Grlic Radman, and Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandrokovic to meet with Saar.
He also questioned the rationale behind his invitation to Zagreb in the first place, condemning his visit as “unacceptable” while Israel's genocide against the people of Gaza continues.
Milanovic emphasized that meeting with a member of the Israeli regime at a time when it is expelling the entire population of Gaza City “would mean supporting Israel’s policy of violence, ethnic cleansing, and war crimes.”
He also criticized Croatia's government for supporting Israeli officials instead of taking steps to recognize the State of Palestine.
Milanovic further noted that comparing Croatia's war in the 1990s with Israel's attacks on Gaza is “a huge mistake,” because Croatia defended itself during that time, while Israel “is brutally attacking Gaza and killing tens of thousands of people."

Israel levels Gaza City tower as it steps up forced displacement of Palestinians
Wednesday, 10 September 2025 3:19 PM [ Last Update: Wednesday, 10 September 2025 3:19 PM ]
Israel has intensified its assault on Gaza City, flattening another residential tower as part of its ongoing offensive aimed at displacing the Palestinians from the city.
The attack struck the Tayba II Tower near the densely populated Rimal neighborhood on Wednesday, reducing the high-rise to rubble.
Tayba II Tower is the latest in a string of high-rise buildings deliberately targeted by the regime, many of which had been sheltering displaced families seeking refuge from the relentless bombardment.
The destruction of residential towers has become a defining feature of Israel’s genocidal campaign, leaving thousands homeless and stripping Gaza City of its remaining civilian infrastructure.
Since last month, Israel has subjected the city of around one million residents to an intense bombardment.
This escalation of Israeli attacks on Gaza City, dubbed "Gideon's Chariots 2 operation," aims to "completely occupy Gaza City."
(...)
Analysts say the destruction shows a clear intent to make the city uninhabitable, the act described as ethnic cleansing and genocide.
Since the Israeli regime began its genocidal assault on Gaza on October 7, 2023, it has killed 64,656 Palestinians and wounded 163,503, mostly children and women.
