Iryna Zarutska was fatally stabbed on a bus in Charlotte, North Carolina, on August 22 and footage of the attack has been shared widely online. However, national media coverage of the murder was limited in the following days, leading to the promulgation of a conspiracy theory online that outlets were suppressing the story because the alleged killer was African American and had a lengthy criminal record. Yesterday, in response to a tweet comparing the number of articles about the case published by the New York Times to those published about the murder of George Floyd (which sparked nationwide protests), UFC middleweight Marvin Vettori tweeted: “F*** all these people, this s*** is getting out of hand, they control everything. "F*** these Ashkenazi Jews who want control over the world. Here I said it.” In a follow up tweet, he added: “I have some friends that are Jews and they are great people, they have the right to believe in real Judaism but if they would come to me and ask me why you say this I would tell them that if they stand by this Zionist agenda where they are the chosen and they stand by what the Talmud says and etc, then I guess we can part ways.” A review of Vettori’s social media profile shows that he has previously shared content from Candace Owens, who has referred to Israel as a “demonic nation” and shared conspiracies about Jews using the blood of Christian children in rituals, and has claimed that “Zionism and national socialism are driven by the same principles”.
