Calin Georgescu, a Romanian politician who has been openly pro-National Socialist in the past, has come in first in the opening round of the presidential election. He will now face a run-off with the second-place candidate.
In advance of the election, so-called political experts informed the Romanian public that Georgescu would receive less than 10% of the vote. Instead, he secured 23%.
In the past, Georgescu praised the assassinated counter-Semitic Romanian nationalist Corneliu Codreanu (1899-1938) as a "hero." He also referred to Ion Antonescu, the pro-Hitler leader of Romania during World War II, as a "martyr."
Jews are understandably panicked by Georgescu's unexpectedly strong showing and are working overtime to ensure that he does not win the run-off election.
