Would today’s young women be as amused as Tracy’s giddy younger sister at the suggestion that Tracy’s ex “socked” her in the face? That bizarre scene always haunted me: in reality, a normal teenage girl would be upset by such an incident, if not emotionally scarred for life. And, Tracy would have lost several teeth.

What the merchandise seems to be suggests what people truly want: The “antique” table suggests roots and permanence, a continuance of family and tradition; the tees suggest leisure and comradery; the Hepburn model suggests glamor, wealth & possibly also family and roots. Lately women’s fashion throws back to Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Kennedy; perhaps just a longing for a more stable and prosperous time?

Of course, the industry would argue that there is nothing wrong with fantasy. What harm does it cause if the wealthy decorate their kitchen to recall their vacation on the Rivera? Even if we assume that the Celts were entirely “non-Germanic,” the Celts never hated Germany. Ireland was neutral in WW2.

The other groups which comprise the genetic make-up of the British Isles & Ireland are all considered Germanic: Angles, Saxons, Danes, Vikings …

The attitude that nudity is wrong is a reaction to aggressive or violent behavior. Clothing symbolizes armor and social status. A naked man conceals no weapons. A naked woman is also vulnerable. People do not undress in Central Park (for example) because they would be too scared — unless they are deranged.
